Worthy Parts are looking for a mechanical Trade Assistant to compliment their expanding workshop commitments. We are an online platform for buying & selling machinery, components and parts across Australia. Our workshop requires a driven individual to assist with parts and component logistics for our clients across Australia.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking Mechanical Trade Assistant based in Kalgoorlie. The Mechanical Trade Assistant is responsible for carrying out general workshop cleaning and mechanical duties as required. You will be able to demonstrate safe working practice for maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean and tidy condition.

Duties include:

  • Assist trades people where required
  • Keeping work areas tidy and clean free from obstructions
  • Cleaning and washing parts
  • Photographing parts and cataloguing into computer system
  • Assist in freight receivables and deliveries
  • Delivery and pick up of parts where required
  • Yard maintenance and cleaning

This is an entry level role that may suit someone with basic skills who is looking for further experience in the mechanical field. You must be able to work individually or as part of a team. Successful applicants will need attention to detail, have a great work ethic and be safety conscious.

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions
  • Develop knowledge of workshop procedures
  • Ability to operate and maintain workshop tooling and equipment
  • Be safety conscious around Plant and Machinery
  • General knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school certificate or equivalent education certificate; one to three months’ related experience and or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Forklift certificate (essential);
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and develop;
  • Hold a current national Manual C- class driver’s licence; and
  • Hold a current MR- class driver’s licence (desirable).

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a current National Police Clearance (within 3 Months)
  • Experience in welding, grinding and Oxy Cutting (preferred but not essential)
  • Fit & Healthy
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screen
  • Good communication
  • A can do attitude
  • Be reliable and punctual
