A regular Goldfields League Football fixture was turned into a fundraising opportunity to benefit the Goldfields Children Charity Inc. A locally based and run Kalgoorlie Charity, the Children’s Charity aims to improve the lives of local people by supporting families with seriously ill children. On the 14th of August Kalgoorlie City Football Club – Kangas and Mines Rovers Football CLUB – Dolorites took the opportunity to raise awareness for this worthwhile charity by hosting an annual fixture with one off event guernsey’s.

Obtaining sponsorship for their Colts, Reserves and A Grade team guernseys, Worthy Parts, SRW and WestAuz Mining proudly supported each division’s jersey for the Kangas team. Coach of the A Grade Kangas Team and Worthy Parts owner Michael proudly sponsored the Colts (Under 19) Kanga jersey and got to present the game ball. The match seen the Colts win with Herbie Cameron taking the title of best player for kangas!

Once the days play was finished Brownlow Medalist winner Jason Akermanis made a special guest appearance at the clubs presentation evening where the jersey’s were auctioned off. Great night had by all and a great talk delivered by Jason Akermanis. Akermanis impressed the crowd on the night with many people contacting the club with praise for him. Over $15,000 was raised, a considerable effort by the club, which all went to the worthy cause. Well done to all involved!
