About the Owners
The revolutionary new website was developed by heavy duty mechanical workshop supervisor Michael Worthington and his wife Jaymi. They both grew up in the mining town of Kalgoorlie Boulder, with Michael being born into a mechanical family. His father and two brothers are also qualified heavy duty mechanics.
The idea of the Worthy Parts website and business model grew after years spent watching large amounts of money go to waste within the mining industry.
“Sometimes with the cost of labour rates in today’s market it becomes easier to throw left-over or excess parts in the scrap metal bin or in the back of the storeroom than it is to repair or re-sell. We find ourselves or our businesses accepting this practice because there isn’t many other options out there. I couldn’t help but think that there would be someone out there in Australia right now who would want one of these parts that I have, and they don’t even know I’ve got it. Worthy Parts has been designed to attract all business types and sizes with the attractive feature of 30 or 45 day trading accounts to approved members. The reason for this feature is that larger companies sometimes struggle to buy from businesses who are not on their approved list of suppliers. If a larger company wishes to set up a trading account, then it opens up their supply options to the whole of the country” said Michael.
