As Western Australia wrestles with the infancy of COVID and in particular the Omicron strain into the community, the mining sector are seeking haste.  

Companies have been reporting to the ASX for over 12 months now, production and supply issues are affecting the bottom line.

The actions to be taken when COVID takes a stranglehold on the resources sector appear quite late for many in the industry according to peak body – Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA.

The CME are seeking immediate initiation of the high case load protocols to protect the industry that has kept the wheels of the economy turning.

There have been cases on mine sites in WA already this week with one site isolating up to 80 employees. This comes off the back of reports this week that Wesfarmers leaders were upping stumps and heading east to base themselves.

While Drilling outfit DDH1 are looking at sending rigs east and their appear more businesses are transitioning to an east coast base.
